The SPRINTER consortium gathered on 29–30 October 2025 for its 8th Plenary Meeting, hosted by Ericsson R&D Center in Genoa.
Over two intensive days, partners reviewed the project’s latest achievements and next steps toward low-cost, energy-efficient hybrid photonic integrated circuits enabling time-critical networking in industrial environments.
🔹 Highlights from the agenda included:
• Technical progress and risk assessment led by ICCS
• Updates on hybrid PIC developments for high-speed transceivers (HHI, NVIDIA, LXI, CSEM, UC3M)
• System integration and prototype validation (IMEC, ICCS, NVIDIA-ICOM, TEI, FILL)
• Electrical parts and packaging progress (PHIX, UC3M, HHI)
• Network management architecture developments (CMC, NVIDIA)
• Dissemination, exploitation, and clustering updates (FILL, TEI, ICCS, NVIDIA)
Participants also enjoyed a guided tour of the Ericsson Lab and a social dinner in the heart of Genoa.
As SPRINTER approaches its final review, the team continues to push the limits of hybrid photonic integration for next-generation communication systems.
