We are proud to share the successful completion of the SPRINTER Project Final Review, held on 23 October 2026 at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), hosted by our project coordinator, PCRL – Photonics Communications Research Laboratory / ICCS – NTUA!
Throughout the project, the SPRINTER consortium has worked collaboratively to advance low-cost, energy-efficient photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and next-generation optical transceivers, paving the way for high-speed, reliable and time-critical communications in industrial environments.
The Final Review provided an opportunity to showcase our key achievements, technological innovations and research outcomes, highlighting the progress made in system integration, testing, exploitation and dissemination.
A particular highlight was the live demonstration of SPRINTER technologies at the PCRL laboratory, showcasing the project’s innovative solutions and their potential to support more flexible, sustainable and high-performance industrial communication networks.
A huge thank you to all SPRINTER partners — LioniX International, Fraunhofer HHI, NVIDIA, CSEM, imec, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, PHIX Photonics Assembly, Intracom Telecom, Cumucore, Ericsson, Fill and PCRL/ICCS-NTUA — for their dedication, collaboration and invaluable contributions throughout this journey!
Together, we have taken important steps towards the future of photonics-enabled industrial communications!
